Once you improve your activity on the website, youtube is gonna send you a partnership request,  thus, you will get an option to put ads on your video, but sadly, after a recent update you cannot get money from videos till it reachs 10k+ views.
About the programs, I prefer to use Camtasia studio (lastest version ofc), easy software to use, and its interface makes everything easier. Oh, you should talk about the rendering part as it's the most important, Camtasia takes so long to render a 10 mins video... this is why people prefer another software.
